Accsense harnesses advanced technology to bring you the easiest end-to-end wireless sensing solution available.

Mesh
The self-configuring mesh network used by the Accsense solution provides fast setup. The mesh allows Pods to communicate with eachother, sending your data to the Gateway and onto your Online Account. The result: better transmission reliability and extended range.  A mesh may be formed with up to 16 Pods connecting to one Gateway, resulting in an end-to-end transmission distance of over 3/4 mile!mesh_diagram

Secure, Reliable Servers
The B1-01 Gateway sends its data to our server cluster housed in a datacenter in Texas, hosted by Rackspace Managed Hosting (www.rackspace.com). The datacenter features multiple redundant fiber optic connections to the Internet backbone.

The server cluster is highly scaleable, and fault tolerant. It is designed in a fashion so individual servers can be taken offline for maintenance without affecting the service. The cluster is composed of three different types of servers.

Web Servers: These servers handle SSL encryption, and pass sessions to the applications servers, distributing the load across multiple application servers where appropriate to ensure quick response, and high availability.

Application Servers:
The application servers process user requests and perform data calculations, such as alarms, and generating graphs.

Database Servers: The database servers house massive arrays of storage, organized to store vast amounts of data, in a fashion where it can be quickly retrieved for analysis.

Each step is fault tolerant, and if one server fails, then all requests are sent to one of the other operational servers until the failure is resolved. Accsense operates two completely separate database clusters, providing 100% redundancy of all database storage and functionality. Data is replicated from the primary and secondary clusters within milliseconds of being committed to the database. In the unlikely event of a catastrophic database failure, the secondary cluster can take over all database functions, acting as a hot spare, without degrading service. All customer and server data is backed up nightly to tape, where it is stored in the secure vaults at the datacenter. Full backups occur weekly, with nightly incremental backups. All backup tapes are retained for two weeks before they are reused.
